Now that it is clear that social media is no trend - it is here to stay - CEOs are beginning to create personal profiles so they can interact with their customers. This is growing largely among the younger CEOs. Social media is becoming a critical component of businesses and the CEOs have taken note, incorporating social media into their various business strategies. Statistics in the article show that company's with social media involved CEOs are benefiting from the practice. It should be no surprise that in the next few years, most CEOs will be involved with social media, especially with the younger generation of future CEOs who have embraced social media the most strongly coming of age.

I think that's really great that CEO's are getting involved in social media and not just assigning it to some intern. When I worked in the business school graduate office one of the tasks I was assigned to was analyzing the social media presences of competing business programs but I never saw fruition of that project.
I definitely think that we will be seeing a lot more of this as the older generation that is afraid of social media moves on and the younger generation, for whom social media is as normal as having an email account, moves in.
Ya I agree, I think it is becoming increasingly important, but I'm just wondering- have you read anything about the ways in which CEOs are using social media? I mean I can imagine Twitter and LinkedIn... but I was thinking corporate blogs specifically written by the CEO would be a good way to engage in a conversation with customers.
Yes, I think blogs are an important component. If you remember, one of the most famous blogs we discussed (GM's Fastlane) was started by Bob Lutz, GM's Vice Chairman.
