On October 26, 2011 the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) was introduced to the House of Representatives. If passed it would allow courts to force companies like Google, Paypal and Visa to cancel any business with websites operating in the grey area of copyright. For a more elaborated description see:

Companies like Google, Facebook and Reddit did not fail to recognize that this bill would have unforseeable consequences both for their content and business model. Therefore a petition has been put into place to stop SOPA from passing.

This is a very interesting issue and I hope the bill gets blocked, since it could have some really bad consequences for the internet. Even companies like Microsoft who are usually in favor of stronger copyright laws seem to be against this.
